The world’s most expensive shoe, a $2,200 Crocs nursing shoe, has been recalled by retailers after a worker died at a factory in China, the company said.
The shoe was made by Jangdong International and shipped from Shanghai to Hong Kong, where it was inspected by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in October, according to Jangs China’s website.
The safety and quality of the shoes was tested in the United Kingdom, according a company statement.
Jangs has not responded to requests for comment.
Janes New Era was the top-selling model for the last five years, with more than 1.2 million pairs sold globally.
The shoe, sold at retailers including Macy’s and Zara, was recalled in February after two workers died at the factory in Qingdao, according with China’s state news agency Xinhua.
It was the third time the company had recalled a nursing shoe after it was recalled last year.
Last month, the firm recalled the Nike Air Force 1 in response to safety concerns.
The company said the new version would be sold in stores as of Tuesday and is expected to be available at retailers nationwide.
